I don't understand coffee

I just don't.
I have spent some time around coffee shops ranging from shitty to snobby with the hipsters and I just don't get it. Coffee smells amazing, but nomatter what I do it always tastes like shit to me. I don't fucking care about the differences in "roasts" or the fact that these are the rarest coffee beans that were grown in ground up gold instead of dirt, if it tastes like bitter shit, its bitter shit.
I mean, Its good when you smother it in chocolate and cream and shit, but thats kind of against the point isn't it? Why not just have hot chocolate with less sugar and more cocoa?
Someone enlighten me, and don't get me started on tea.

^.
People come to like it because of the whoopass it delivers. Same with most booze. Acquired tastes and all that.

the more you drink it the easier it gets, like smoking cigarettes or drinking vodka straight.
then again, some people just dont like it. which is fine. drink tea instead.

I didn't drink it regularly till a year or two ago
& was in-fact rabidly anti-coffee culture.
Still not addicted but, as you say, with all the milk & sugar/honey, I'm drinking a flat white every couple of days because of the company I'm keeping.
Starting to discern what elements make it taste good or crap.
Supposedly there are some health benefits from the actual coffee so I'm relaxed about my level of use.
Still wouldn't drink it near bedtime though.

ever notice in cowboy films where the stockman rides into camp
jumps off his horse, grabs his tin cup & pours himself coffee from a billy on the fire?
No sugar, no milk & no doubt, having sat brewing all evening, as strong as turkish.

I didn't have my first full cup until age 22. Have only had maybe 3 or 4 more cups since. Coffee isn't bad but I don't think it's great. I don't feel compelled to drink it every year, let alone everyday.

I'm such a pussy with coffee these days. I have a one-cup maker (it has it's own metal mesh filter) and I'll make a cup, pour it in a big glass over ice with lots of cream and Stevia. I'm a proper suburban twat about it ;p
If it's my day off I put a couple shots of peppermint schnapps in it though...even at 9am lol

i hate the buzz you get from coffee, but if i'm super hungover or something and need dat fix its all about drinking it black. something about that awful taste alone will wake your ass up (until you crash)

Itsd brilliant i dont even get the bitterness thing, even since the first time i tried it i just like the taste. I know its bitter, but if you look behind that theres a lot of flavour behind it. dont even get me started on the buzziness you get off that shit. if i need to motivate myself, coffee it is.
