Ableton library problem. moving samplers preset to a new HD

Post by Kilo beats » Wed Jul 10, 2013 10:43 pm

Hey guys

Bit of a problem here

I use 128's (instrument racks with 128 samplers in, each containing a different sample). I have a whole bunch of these 128s saved. but recently i got a new hard drive.

I installed win7 and ableton on this new hard drive, as well as keeping them on my old hard drive. I copied my sample library and my presets folder (where all my 128s are stored) to my new hard drive so i could keep all my 128s

the problem is when i try to load up one of my 128s i get a "missing samples" error. No biggie as i can find one of the samples im missing and hotswap it and ableton asks if i want to replace all the other missing samples as well, so i click yes and sure enough all my samples re-appear. But....

when i close the project and open a new project and load the 128 that ableton had just previously scanned and found the missing files for, they are once again missing!

this is really a big problem for me as i have spent a LOT of time making all these 128's

Any ideas?

Save the preset again once you replace them?

tried that but i am using the latest version of ableton on the new HD, it automatically makes copies of the samples along with the preset. i dont want to save extra copy's of the samples, i just want to re-direct the location of the missing samples, if that makes sense?

ahh no worries, problem solved!

i should of known there was something weird about ableton automatically saving copy's of the samples.. turns out "collect files on export" in preferences was set to "always", duh

always the simple things aint it? lol cheers for the help though Bro
