The bandwidth and shittyness of the computer at the store am I'm working today is preventing me from watching...but I think the Volca Series is fucking cool. People keep telling me things like....but if you save the 300 you'd spend on the bass and beats modules you could get a Blofeld for a few hundred more...or...they look fun, but how useable are they in production....I think I might tell them to fuck off by buying some of these...even though they'd be almost totally redundant in my set up lol...way too fun looking...
@wub: you considering these for your "micro" set up or whatever?

Very much so! I think between these, the Kaossilator and the Chimera I've got pretty much most bases covered. Just need some sort of portable mixer and a recording device, though can probably use my Gemini iKey for that.

Cool man. I'm not sure if I'll spend the money or not myself. As for a mixer I'm not aware of any battery powered ones. I can highly recommend the Yamaha MG102c (I may have before) you can get a used one CHEAP. As low as 50USD sometimes. Solid mixer, nice pres you can push. I aux send. Inserts on some of the channels. If I weren't so desperately broke at the moment I would be keeping mine even though I upgraded.

The video I posted also has a BIRD DJ-4 passive mixer to control the volume, so maybe if they're battery operated I could org chain three of them together...?

If I'm reading that blog right it takes no power source of any kind? I don't see a power cord in the video, just the output of the volcas into the DJ-4 and the output of the DJ-4?

That's how I'm reading it too, yeah.
Which means I could put the whole setup (assuming 4 inputs for sake of argument) into a cheap camera backpack (with those padded compartments) for transport.
Portable studio

It seems a bit pricey @ 70...wonder if you could make one cheap. Can't be that complicated. You solder? But I'm of the "If you have the cash, fuck it" attitude with buying gear versus DIY most of the time, lol.
That would be a super cool portable set up though man!

Not for shit
Though I have some friends who do, might have an ask and see what can be done.

Those Volcas look like fun! I wouldn't mind getting a couple of those when I can afford them.
