Question about ASIO drivers in Abelton

Post by dooshbhag » Sun Jul 14, 2013 5:02 am

So, I've been producing for 6 now, and while I'm no engineer, I hope that anyone reading this seemingly standard rookie move will just hear me out a little. Recently I moved to Abelton and am finding the switch largely pleasant, bar the unquantizeable Automations, and am seriously considering investing in it.
However, I'm noticing that there is a huge difference between the way things sound with and without the ASIO driver. Until just now I was able to get around it by simply not using the ASIO driver, but I'm on my third track now and listening over, it sounds a little underwhelming on the low end. This is immediately noticeable when Listening to the rendered version of the WAV on iTunes, Windows Media Player and SoundCloud, but what is really strange is that when I re-load this WAV into Ableton and play it back through the ASIO driver, it sounds fine again?
Am I supposed to not be using ASIO drivers in Abelton? Are there other alternatives for playback in heavy project files?

Cheers in advance,
Your ever-clueless dooshbhag. :dunce:
