Why is the dubstep community so narcissistic?

Post by kier403 » Fri Jul 26, 2013 10:05 pm

Even on here I can't get a reply without someone posting their song with it. wtf? Soundcloud, youtube and everywhere else it's like a bunch of people trying to get known and famous. :x

i like it cos you can listen to someones songs and determine whether or not to value their opinion.

(I of course value everyone's opinions)

seriously, when you get down to brass tax everyone is just hustling. i only post when i'm nearing the end of producing a tune, and i do pretty much zero self promoting. that might change someday but i think it would annoy people more than anything else if all i did online was go "i'm an up and coming producer from ____, please check out my youtube/soundcloud!". way too much of that going on.

it also has to do with the fact that the electronic music scene is grotesquely inflated at the moment, which is good because more quality tunes are being released, bad because equally if not more shit tunes are being released, and everyone and their mother is producing.

As aforementioned, clearly you've never been on an internet forum before as you do not understand the concept of signatures.

Mate they put their newest song in their signature, they're not actually replying to you with their song
