Monitor Positioning Tips

Post by 6exx » Thu Aug 01, 2013 2:21 pm

Hey Guys,

I've had a pair of Equator D5's for about 4 months now. While they sound awesome, I'm looking to maximize their utility.

Does anyone have any tips for monitor placement? I.e. at what angle should they be pointing, how far apart should they be, and at what height should they be in comparison to my ears (I've heard they're supposed to be as close to ear height as possible). Any other basic positioning tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks everyone!

Optimal placement in my opinion is the same height as your ears, a 30-45° angle between them and the distance depends on the size and power, usually around 1-1.5 meters.
Another thing to consider (unless you have acoustic insulation) is where to place them in the room, so you don't get any nasty stationary waves. You'll have to move them around the room a bit while playing a frequency sweep until you don't hear anything vibrating anymore.
