Hello there, I'm looking into buying some gear that will be suitable for me to learn on but solid enough to play small parties when the time comes. Any advice and opinions would be greatly appreciated.
I do have some experience fake djing (weddings proms jukebox style don't judge we have to start somewhere xD) So I do know I like it and want this tol be more than a hobby eventually I just need help getting started.

My budget is around 1,200usd but it can grow if I space out purchases which I plan on anyways. I'm just anxious to start learning.
I've come across a new traktor kontrol s4 for $529 I'm not concerned about the bulk or learning curve but Its getting dated. I just don't know of anything else comparable for that price.

The real problem is PA systems.
That's another language to me.
I read that two 100-200 wat pa speakers would be enough for a house or small area but I'd prefer to buy bigger so I don't have to worry about pushing them too hard. But then you get into powering them ohms and volts and triangles and aliens.

Any insight would be more than appreciated, thanks for taking the time to read this.

We use an S4, it has all the bells and whistles you probably wont know what to do with anyway

I would start on an S2, has everything you will need

That was the original plan but there is currently only 50$ between the two.

The controller itself. It was released around 09 I guess these don't update as much as other things, I figured it would have been replaced like phones or computers

Get the s4. That price is awesome. I've had an s4 for awhile and I promise you it isn't dated. The nice thing about native instruments is they stay ahead of the curve usually with their hardware and make it easy to expand upon. Like the f1 for instance, opens up a whole new world for 200 more bucks. You can't really beat an s4 for that price.
