John - Glow (Garage, 135 bpm)

Post by HoogerJ » Wed Aug 21, 2013 8:29 pm

Tried a garage-like tune for the first time, after listening a lot of Teknian. Feedback more than appreciated!

ok its a nice track but heres some tips: that synth stab in the intro doesnt hold up on its own. i think u should drop it or do something more interesting with it f ex with the envelope or delay.. the rest of the intro elements sounds good. now im listening on headphones and i really think that subs needs to be lopassed at a lower freq. also the bass should be heavily sidechained to ur kick cause it ends up sounding very monotonous. the vocal is great and alot of the percussion sounds nice and crisp good job on that!;)

was i helpfull? then check out my latest track and return the favour ^^

agree with niceguy with the sub, needs some volume automation, some sidechaining or whatever. id bring the all the elements down around the drums though, drums needs to sit higher in the mix. i like the filtering towards the end and i got that reverbed clave thing ha

the end sentence of your post seems unnecessary mr nice guy, keep posting reviews like that and people will listen anyway

Thanks guys. Really appreciate you taking the time for some proper feedback. I agree with you both on the bass. Simply been too lazy with that one and I have gotten more feedback about it. Don't agree with niceguy on the stabs. I think they work well as a atmo-fx kind of thingy. I'm gonna rework the track soon and come back to you. Appreciate it if you both would take a listen then again.

And @Niceguy: when I'm home again I'm gonna listen to your track on a proper headphone.

Thx again!

Really struggling to come up with something workable, tho. Anyone got some suggestions for a better (sub) bass in this track?

Finally reworked the track, thanks to all the feedback. Dropped the sub for a very subby kick. Also added a couple of synths and tried to make a better overall mix.

Tell me what you think!
