Driving me mad!!!!

Post by Fletchur » Fri Aug 23, 2013 7:40 pm

I've tried to get answers but its hard to explain the main thing I'm looking for, I'll break my question down into 2

Number one is simple,

1) Is the bass mixed/levels ok in this song?

2) How do I stop the bass low notes ruining the entire atmosphere of the piece due to sounding more minorey?

2 is the real question I'm asking but 1 is helpful too. I just can't seem to get it right. The pad sounds have a wide range of notes and I think they compliment the melody nicely but the damn bass just sounds horrible with its minor root notes, I've tried different patterns but I just think it sounds horrid, ruining the upbeat atmosphere completely!!!

Sorry for the rant but I have been stuck on this for ages

Minor bass root notes? I'm not really sure what your saying. And what bass? I'm stuck with head phones or hi fi speakers as I'm house sitting but I really can only just hear the bass... So it's either too low in level or a really deep sine that cant be reproduced on everyday house hold speakers. So it either needs to be turned up or saturated.

Everything sounds in key so I don't know what you are concerned about. The sustained bass that i can barely hear probably doesn't need to be sustained though. The mid range is so busy with the pad that it might help to change the bass so it is triggered in time with the kick but under it. so it gives the effect of a meaty kick that follows the chord progression.

Isn't there a WIP sticky for this too.

Thanks for the reply. I don't quite understand what you mean though about changing the bass, trigger it when, its going throughout the whole track. And for the notes I mean like following the notes of the chord but obviously not all the notes of a chord only one.
