there are literally 100's of threads like this - use the search and look for "kill the noise", "skrillex", "brostep bass", "fm8" whatever

And none of these have a serious answer.

It is all pure speculation because the ones who reply to those kinds of threads don't know anything about what they are going for, and those who do know how the sounds are made are smart enough to avoid those threads entirely.

I think the problem is, there are way too many videos like THAT ^ which yield an absolutely terrible end result (you can hear it right in the beginning, it's awful) and there's a small handful of legit tutorials

What is needed is a thread that has only the best tutorials for this kind of sound and it should probably be stickied at the top of this forum.

Hey man,

Im a big fan of them growls too the Kaskade&Skrill one i did find an amazing tutorial for it thats about 30 mins long i think using FM8 and a vocoder I'll try dig it out for you, it's not exact but very close and gives you a good indepth idea on how the modulation/ sound is done

skip to around 29.30 for the sound so your not wasting your time. He uses First of the year with this but I imagine its the same concept used in Lick it as it does sound like the growl is saying something in that dunno what tho.

He has done some things in the tutorial that I myself wouldn't have done like using EQing effects in FM8 i'd just wait till i've finished the sound and modulated it then mix it down and alter it where needed.

It is in FL so aslong as you can still follow the idea in your own DAW you'll be fine.

Hope this helps good luck man.
