Anyone got any music production books that they can recommend? Preferably Ebooks so I can read it from my iPhone, but not essential if it's a decent book.

I'm looking for a tutorial style, step by step from the ground up kind of book. Doesn't have to be dubstep specific but must be EDM or Dance music of some kind. Not looking for something ancient but quite recent (within the last 5 years).

I've hit a wall lately in terms of ideas and I feel like it'll do me good to go back to basics and read about music production from the ground up. I've realised now that while I've been teaching myself to produce over the last 6 years, there's a lot of basic shit I missed out or skipped over because it was boring at the time. I believe that if I get a grasp on the basics that I'm missing, it will push my skills and tracks to a new level.

I've got 'how to make a noise' which I've been reading lately.

It's not exactly specifically an EDM production book, but I've been reading this book on Brian Eno, who pretty much invented ambient music, and he talks a lot about the different ways of approaching production, and the mistakes a lot of musicians make when trying to come up with ideas or just in general on their philosophy of music. It talks about a lot of different shit so it's hard to really sum it all up, but it's helped me a lot with the way I approach making music and view music in general. It's a book that I definately think would help you out in your situation. The exact book is Brian Eno, His Music and The Vertical Color of Sound by Eric Tamm. Check that shit out.

I bought 2 of the 'Dummies' books, drumming, and music theory, have helped me somewhat.
