man how do i get that reverb that only comes just a bit after the reverbed bit? commonly used in single drum hits such as snares and claps placed just before the measure changes as a sort of FX
it's really hard to explain as i can't think of a track right now that features one. but you know, there's not like immediate reverb but it rather comes with a sort of delay
big ups for any help

Lots of reverb plugins have a "delay" knob. just turn that up.

This, might also be named room size or early reflections.

Are you sure that it's reverb and not just a unique sample?

Its whats known as a gated reverb. Gates the reverb when anything is playing, reverb not compressed when theres no signal. Very useful for big reverbs on vocals. Sure there will be vsts to do this, or you can route the reverb thru a compressor, sidechained to the 'vocal' (or whatever)

Gated Reverb is, quite precisely, gated with a sidechain signal. Not compressed. For an example of this, see Phil Collins drum tracks.
So in other words: You're wrong, and should feel bad for mixing compression and gating.

Cut the guy some slack, he means that the reverb is ducked or gated while the sample is playing.

It's not that different from compressing to be fair..

Split your signal into two, one is your sample, second is your wet reverb. Then sidechain the reverb signal with your sample.

This is also a good idea, compress your signal with precisely set release so after your drum hits, the reverb signal is still compressed, and it raises afterwards.

#wow
such discussion
tech talk
what i meant was for example in some songs there can be a straight single snare shot just before the "drop" (for the lack of a better word) where at first there's a completely or almost dry sample and the reverbed signal comes with a slight attack after that, as opposed to a completely reverbed hit. I tried to apply the technique where the snare is sent to another track with a reverb and a compressor so that the reverbed snare is sidechained to the dry signal but i didn't quite get what i wanted.

Keep working at it. Work the threshold, compression ratio, attack and release settings.
But what you want is a reverb with predelay, as several people mentioned in this such discussion thread.

dunno why you're all going into compression n shit, its just pre-delay timed right.
