Synthmaster all the way. Not only can you get it for cheap but it can do damn near anything and sounds great doing it.

cyclop is great, i use it a lot. i find the oscillator section to be lacking a little bit, but the modulation and effects you can apply (first soft synth i've seen with a sequencer built in FOR effects) make it a powerhouse. i like to use it in conjunction with massive, which offers way more on the oscillator front but less on effects.

Cyclop looks really gaudy, but having learnt a bit of reaktor its so sick. so much potential. you can do pretty much anything with it.

''limitless programming possibilities'' is not what you want believe me, it actually will just limit your creativity.
I bet it can do fucking everything and you can expand it to do even fucking more and spend 12 consecutive days
programming a synth sound, but if you want a bass synth, get a bass synth.
Reaktor is at +1 again.
(I have Reaktor and it's awesome, it's just the polar opposite way of how I want to create music)

You can't vote twice, so it's still +3

- 1 for Reaktor. Unless you want to so end the rest of you're life trying (and failing) at making good synths in that thing, you'd be better with another option.
Back to +2

Reaktor has OkiComputer 2, which is literally bass heaven for dubstep and grime. So back to +3 for Reaktor. Fuck building your own shit in it. It's already got soooo many good synths for creating epic bass sounds (Carbon 2 also amazing).
-1 on this entire thread for getting a new vst just for making basses with. You can make crazy fucking basses with Ableton's Analog and a slew of creative effects if you know what you're doing. The huge bass in my track Doppelganger came from Fabfilter Twin 2. And nobody even thinks of that as a synth that is for making "sick basses"
