SHOULD I KEEP ATTEMPTING DUBSTEP?
i made this about a year ago, i went through a phase where i made about 10 dubstep tunes but then got on the off-beat hip hop tip and kind of lost interest as i never got much feedback in terms of continuing with this style...
this obv needs a bit of work (especially on the hi end).. but is it worth continuing with this style? was going for an early loefah/n-type sound...
THIS tune is called Weasel:

If you're asking for feedback on this tune, felt you've got a good vibe going on but the percussion was a little on the repetitive side at times and could maybe do with a little more variation. But a good tune overally.
If you're asking on whether you should keep making similar tunes to this...only you can really answer that. If you're feeling a tune, you're feeling it. If you're not, stop it and do something else. That's a personal taste thing that only the artist themselves can really answer?

i just didnt know if this was any good in terms of the style i was trying to adhere to... as someone who has a lot of mates who are into the brostep side of things and such, i never get great feedback from them as theyre always like "bro, wheres the drop" - and the mates who DO listen to deeper stuff are kinda difficult in terms of high standards and the fact that theyre not producers and such, makes it hard to get genuine feedback from them too.
in terms of repetition, thats where i struggle with the minimal vibe.. its hard to maintain interest without overcrowding the tune.. any suggestions for thickening it out and cleaning it up would be most welcome..
was gonna put a hi pass on the crunchy saw that kicks in after halfway, also wanted to do an eq on the hats/hi end and sidechain the kicks to some of the hats too.. just for an easy bit of a velocity fix...
apart from that though, cant think of anything to add/remove..
thanks for the feedback dude.

For me is also a bit too repetitive. Missing also some leading melody or something. The track has a good vibe and very trippy.

^ cheers dude. yeah man i might go back and fix this one in particular, hopefully that gears me up to get back into the dub production..
i was gonna say the difficulty with this is that a lot of the mids are detuned so its hard to fit a melody in there..
definitely some food for thought though man, nothing is impossible dude, its just gonna be a lot of fiddling

I quite like this man, especially that tribally feel it's got.
Large ambient feel to the whole track.
I think you should keep making stuff like this.

Melodic deepness from my mind.

Although some folks might say this advice is BS, I say... Don't "try to make" dubstep per se. Make the music YOU wanna hear and everything else should fall into place.
