Been listening to this EP for the past month or so and gets better every time I hear it. I have so many "how the fuck do they do that?!" questions but I don't even know where to start!
The arrangement and composing is outstanding. They have so many elements playing simultaneously but they support one another rather than fighting for attention and transition the listeners ear to other elements so smoothly How the hell do they mix this stuff down? I feel like there's 3 pianos playing at all times.
AND the whole EP is basically a 5 song mix. Many of the outros contain small elements of the next track.
My favorite is Starlite @ 6:19.

Feel like its kinda overhyped...Lyrical classical cinematic music meets breaks/dnb....feel like theyre trying so hard to evoke emotion it gets kinda cheesy. just my opinion tho

Cheesy? Maybe to a low degree, but for the most part, I disagree. These guys don't have any particular tendency to try and sound emotional. Their music is incredibly diverse, so I don't believe they're trying so hard to evoke an emotional response. This just sounds exceptionally well-produced to me. I've never been unimpressed with KOAN Sound.

Completely agree on production quality. Always impressed by that...both of them have some of the sickest mixdowns, synthesis, and ear candy around. If I could only listen to the drums, incidentals, and bass id be happy guess its the melodic content in the strings that really turns me off of this particular release. Whether or not theyre trying to evoke emotion, it sounds slightly forced with the dynamic level of expression (strings). That being said it definitely shows how diverse they can be @smalltock and I do applaud them for that.

Starlite by KOAN Sound & Asa sounds like Bonobo and Shpongle meets Noisia, utter bliss... Not heard the rest of the EP, might have to give this a check when I'm not busy
