Wouldn't usually recommend Rokit's as you know, but at this price...

Avoid rokits at all prices. They are absolutely garbage.

/facepalm

At $169 theres no reason to not get them if you need monitors. People just like to shit on the krk brand. There not the best out there, but thats reflected in there price. For a first pair of monitors they are perfectly acceptable.

Is this for one, or for the pair?

Single monitor. Good price, but not insta trigger pull. If it was the pair, I was going to order on the spot.

I thought it was per pair too. Still a pretty good price. If shipping was free thatd be ace.

Half off is still really good. If I didn't already have KRKs I'd get them.

If I needed a b-pair of speakers or DJ monitors Id pick these up as well. Theyd also be decent as listening speakers in a small space IMO. One bedroom apartment etc.

They okay. The smaller ones don't have much bass, and hype the highs a bit. You can, and I suggest, turning your highs down by 3db. It will sound duller, but you'll mix brighter. Kind of hard to get krk mixes to translate.

At $169(x2=338) you can order a pair of Equator D5 ($379) that can rival very high end monitors at a quarter of the price. Rokits are nowhere close the quality of D5's.

They are absolute garbage, if you think you can get around their crappy midrange, bad stereo image and phase problems then go ahead, you will be surprised how hard it will take you to get out of the krk "signature sound" habit when upgrading to a proper set of monitors.

Seriously, the bass response it's so mediocre.. It's ironic, people tend to buy Rokits because they are under the impression they work for bass oriented music, they are the worst at that.

Rokits do have a niche, they are targeted at people thinking "hey, they are a good first pair of monitors" and are willing to throw their money down the toilet just for a pair of hyped yellow cones and spending twice when upgrading, if you are serious about mixing Rokits are the worst investement you can make..

It took me a couple years but I think I mix pretty good on my RP8s, which is why I'm iffy on changing.

Meccos, you are really passionate about this issue. Like more than anything else on this forum. Why so serious?

They took some important time of my life while getting around their sound. Now that I've moved to a proper pair of monitors I have improved a lot. They are that bad, they will consume you and your ears (i've got tinnitus thanks to them), and your time, they are just not worth.

I've spent years mixing with them, and I always had problems over and over again. They never offered clarity, nor detail or any value at all. They are just hyped speakers, not flat, not even close. Think about it, why spend so many years working with them just to realize that you don't really know shit when you finally move to something decent.

I had a pretty enlightening experience moving from Rokit 6s to D5s.
