headshell weights
I bought a pair of stanton 500v3 carts recently and they just constantly skip. stanton say to use 2.5g - 5g of counterweight but the 1200 only goes up to 3.5
i'm using technics headshells and I'm thinking that maybe they're too light, and that headshell weights might fix this
any ideas?

you're not wrong, you're just an asshole
Re: headshell weights
Take the counterweight off and put it on backwards.
Re: headshell weights
After 2, 3 years, I still haven't cracked the counterweight code. Take wubs advice, though.
Re: headshell weights
done that, still got the same issue. it's happening on both decks, and both new carts.

Re: headshell weights
I'd check your anti-skate settings, headshell angle (depending on the cartridge used)...if not, pennies and blu-tac, I'm afraid
Re: headshell weights
Turn the counterweight further than the numbers go up. There should be room surely?
Otherwise yeah check other aspects of set up including headshell angle and anti skate maybe?
Or get shure white labels that don't need such a ridiculously heavy weight in the first place. 5 would be not good for record wear
