Just went to my first trade car auction. Was sick. So many decent cars for fuck all money. Was originally thinking a Mazda RX8 or newer MX5, but now seen SLK230 going for 2.2k! Might go again again on Thursday and put some money down!

Anyone else going to these? Picked up any deals?

I bought my first car from an auction.
1990 Toyota Conquest with a 4spd gearbox.

Got it for such a deal.

SLK, MX5 = hairdressers cars for sure. but fuck it, hood back doing 80 down some country roads. I'm about that. Plus it's gotta be small enough for my girl to feel comfortable driving.

MX5 is more likely still to be honest.

Unless you want to pay mad money, there just aren't enough decent 2 seater convertibles out there...
4.5k budget really.
Z4 is a possible, but usually too expensive
Z3 might actually turn me gay.
MK3 MX5 would be ideal, but they're usually 5k plus.
Audi A3 - 6k+
Saab 93 - too big.
BMW 318 - possible if we found the right one.
Alfa Romeo - if they weren't all falling apart at this price, maybe.
Toyota MR2 - possible i guess, dont really like it myself.
cheapest porsche boxster is still 6k
Fuck the peugeot, ford, renault, vauxhall offerings.

Boring, aint looking for an everyday car. 4k is more than enough to get a decent convertible.

Any car in white is strictly prohibited except in desert climates though.

Don't let these wastemen put you off... the SLK is a great car.

MX-5 is arguably the most fun you'll have for your money in that list though - I'd be tempted with an older one since spares are so cheap.

BMW 3 series verts are wonderful... had a few as hire cars, but I couldn't bring myself to buy one of the smaller engine'd models. I got done from the lights by a (new) Beetle in one once.

Yeah I fully accept my street racing career is over though ever since i wrote off my Celica.

It's still between the SLK and MX5 for me tbh.

Actually, I'm amazed with how cheap some of the latest shapes are... you can get a new shape SLK for £8k on Autotrader. Custom plate and the gally will be none the wiser!
