I haven't listened to any dubstep in over 6 months but...

I just came across that quest - visitors 12" and jesus christ is that a fuccing brilliant track.
As soon as that bass kicked in I immediately

exactly all in that fashion lol. I actually think I heard visitors at a SYSTEM when mala was still involved and thought it was done by either cessman/kromestar/dark tantrums. I think back then I tried getting an id on it from here by describing it as 'an apocalyptic version of 'stand'' lol
Got really bored with Dubstep cos I felt it became insanely dull/repetitive and stale, so I'm really glad to have found out some great music is still getting made. Commodo's miracles remix is a legit classic and isn't just a standard affair where a producer changes 1 or 2 sounds and calls it a day, that remix could stand by itself as its own song. Gonna check out Gantz release now cos from what I've been seeing thorugh my brief trawls he's got a lot of respect so here goes. Anyway pointless thread, but I felt like I had to vocalise my appreciation for this quest release somewhere.

Thanks mate, Just having a ganders now. Can anyone give me a quick breakdown of what the scene is looking like nowadays? Are there still brosteppers? or have they been replaced by the dungeon lot? Is Loefah still nowhere to be found on the 140 side of things or is he still 150% doing the swamp81 thing?etc etc Safe.

there are still brosteppers, most have moved onto trap. 90% of dubstep being released atm is generic dungeon. Loefah is still pushing swamp 81 but the releases have become very stale and uninteresting. 130 is the new 140 apparently. proxima - trapped was the slept on tune of the year

^ he said it all, lol.
yes, albeit fewer. no, but they're still about; more techno-oriented nowadays. yes, Loe still plays tech house (or whatever you wanna call it).
played Dubfoot out two weeks ago. people were really feeling it.
Baboo -> Dubfoot -> Neverland. was a joy to mix these tunes, especially from Baboo into Dubfoot; makes for a really smooth, drawn-out transition. felt a bit like an oldschool house dj.

Visitors / Dubfoot was possibly the best 12" released last year. Quest is a boss

Forthcoming Gantz on Deep Medi definitely got my attention.

one that really blew me away this last year was andromeda by distance, up on his soundcloud and forthcoming on the next chestplate (finally, been waiting since last february haha). check out the last few innamind releases as well, and chord marauders stuff.

2013 had a ton of killer releases from Killawatt, Ipman, Kaiju, Thelem, Gantz, etc... You got plenty of new tunes to keep ya busy that's for sure.

dubstep has a gaping hole missing in it from a lot of producers leaving, but it is being filled by some bright new talent.
all that dungeon last year really put me off as well

+ Kenzo Bloodlines.
This.
Dont want to sound pretentious but on dungeon-side there were quite few releases worth mentioning.
Plus - camp Innamind, System, Artikal, Black Box, Chord Marouders...
Seriosly loving roots-influenced sound which is obviously getting pushed forward by ones like Kenzo, Vivek, Amit, Kromestar, LAS.
I'm also getting tired with repetitiveness + don't feel techno influences at all, but hey - 2014 is still young, lets see what's going to happen.
For sure - few forthcoming albums - Kenzo, Proxima, Nomine, Truth, Horsepower (?).
130 stuff is getting bigger and bigger, really looking forward for new Benton 130 jungle sound, Wen, Visionist, all Keysound camp.
Waiting for Icicle to come back on stage, couse after BNC (which was LARGE) IMO he flipped the switch.
Thers still plenty to come, lets just get dubstep off from commercial stage.

If you were heavily into the scene/DSF six months ago you should have no trouble catching up, everything is pretty much the same. There's been a lot of cool releases but most of them were already known/getting played six months ago. Just check out the labels and artists you liked before and let them lead you further.
I don't think I'm following anyone outstanding that I wasn't following six months ago though (maybe with the exception of Mikael who I kinda slept on). Gantz, LAS and many more are really coming into their own but they weren't exactly unknowns before. I find I'm enjoying J:Kenzo's Rinse show more than most other podcasts, his selection is fresh and usually somewhat diverse.
