I've not Snopes'd this yet, so it could be an incredibly elaborate fake, but if it's real :Q: :Q: :Q: :Q:

Ok, I know this contributes nothing whatsoever to the discussion but I watched this last night while really high. I fell asleep shortly after and had a vivid dream that L. Ron Hubbard had a giant vault full of money (looked exactly like the treasure that the dragon in The Hobbit guards) which I was repeatedly trying to break in to and steal a few quid to get some donuts from Sainsbury's. :|

this guy's got his engrams in a knot

on the same page, something way more distressing:
the mass killing of seabirds thru their ingestion of plastics

not to mention the mass poisoning of humans via their eating of fish full of nanoparticulate plastics
(go & enjoy your cod & chips now)

A couple of weeks ago, I was visiting with some artists and musicians, we were gathered around having a friendly conversation, and the topic of the best living male actor came up. Everybody talked about so and so. It was kind of my turn to give my input, and I prefaced saying, "when you hear this, you will lose all respect for me." "Nah, it's all good, man, who is it?" "Tom Cruise." They were gathered around me in a circle, and it was like I dropped my pants, pulled back my legs, tried to blow a monster fart and instead accidentally sprayed diarrhea in a twelve foot arc about the room, some covered their ears and winced, some ducked for cover. The looks of panicked disgust were timeless.

He is so fascinating. I really like that guy.

EXACTLY. I could watch that guy try to act for... like a really long time. I don't know what an actor is supposed to do? Make you believe something/feel something that is not real. Believe a lie. No actor can do that for me.

So my cousin posted this link http://www.upworthy.com/l-ron-hubbards- ... -eek?c=cp2 on facebook. I have read some of LRH's books as I study a large number of religions and was curious as to what you all take from scientology. Is there a member of scientology on this forum, and do you care to elaborate LRH's great grandsons claims? Not trying to start a religion war just curious. Hope this doesn't go against the forum rules. :?

Discussion of religion is supposed to stay grounded and tasteful - no epithets, no hatemongering. Specifically "no extreme anti or pro religious stuff."

Although sometimes it's a gray, gray line... esp. in the SNH. :?

---

For those who failed to read my link above with the interview with L. Ron's son or do any other legwork on their own, some takeaways are:

~ L. Ron studied Crowleyan magick for a time; he attempted to create an anti-christ (ceremonially) in a sex magick working with Jack Parsons (founder of one of the most important NASA labs to date, the JPL) and his wife - then stole said wife along with some monetary assets from Parsons and attempted to flee.

~ Crowley's correspondence showed that he thought Hubbard was sketchy as fuck (and when someone like Crowley thinks you're sketchy... :o )

~ Later, an apocryphal story has Hubbard at a cocktail party with other Sci-Fi authors where he declares religion to be the only racket left worth trying.

~ The Scientology symbol with the 2 triangles and the letter S are magickal: they symbolize a broken Star of David and a serpent intertwined.

~ Original core beliefs were a synthesis between Crowleyan magickal principles and Freudian psychology, with a little homebrew mythos tossed in.

Let's see... anything else? -q-

Lemme see...

My buddy used to live next to their temple? in LA, and he says one night him and his wife and friends are either coming in or going out, and this kid runs down the street naked, a couple of seconds later all these people come chasing after the kid. They get the kid and carry it (can't recall the gender) back into the scientology building. My buddy is fairly hardcore, was a streetkid at one point, so doesn't hesitate to go and try and stop them. The people were like the kid ran away, we're just bringing it home. And then they went back into the temple. So my buddy and friends call the police. The police show up, tell them what happened, the police go to the scientology place, police come back and state that the scientology people say no child was running down the street, didn't happen. End of story.

My buddy lived with an actual Klingon, and owned an actual Blade Runner pistol, so who knows.

I just reread this, and it seemed rather far fetched, but these two are true and confirmed by me. The Klingon dude, I saw cut a couch cleanly in half with a sword, one stroke. The pistol was dope.
