for those who can't be bothered to watch the video, this is basically the gist:

christie's administration closed down 2 lanes of the george washington bridge a few months ago (on the NJ side). this is located in Fort Lee, NJ, which has a democratic mayor that Christie asked to endorse him in his re-election and he wouldn't do it.

But when things get straight up jersey is when u realize that the mayor of Fort Lee has been undergoing a massive real estate development project which is his biggest political issue (got him elected). it is going to bring high rise buildings to Fort Lee right by the entrance to the bridge overlooking the Hudson river.

The lanes that Christie's admin closed down are the lanes that the new residents would use to get direct access to the bridge. If they were closed permanently, the value of the real estate would drop massively.

This piece of property has an interesting history. Decades ago, politicians were bribed to give mafia-related developers rights to the property. The politician in question wore a wire and got the criminals arrested.

People are wondering if this is related to the lane closures, if criminals are involved, if Christie is in the mafia, etc.

Note to Chris Christie; you're not Ed Bader and this isn't the 1920s.

It'll be a non issue in 3 years the reason they're on it so hard is because there isn't a school shooting to talk about

This guy is a badman. As American politics doesn't really affect me on a day to day basis, I just like whoever is the most badman at the time, so this guy is my current favourite.

Rob Ford gets my Canadian support too. BADMAN.

i'm really not that liberal (i'm pretty a-political) especially compared to some of the ppl on here, but if i had to pick a label i suppose it would be that one, but it's all pretty bullshit imo. tbh, i pretty much never talk in class, I just sit in the back and absorb. from wot i've seen talking usually hurts people more than it helps them..

anyway

i'm surprised u can even see this thread..... ;-)

not only is he corrupt, but his policies would send america into further unemployment and spiraling income inequality

and im scared of him cause hes the only republican with a decent chance of winning the election

aside from some sort of strong evidence that christie ordered the lane closures on the bridge, this isnt something thats going to hurt him much. america has a really short attention span, they'll be over this in a few weeks, let alone almost 3 years until election day.
