I'v been calculating how much money I will be making a year after I leave the military. I'm estimated 55-65k a year for what I do, Would ya'll consider this a comfortable living? I'm currently making roughly 23 and having a very difficult time staying afloat. What do ya'll make and how comfortable of a living is that salary providing you?

that said how are you struggling financially in the military? you have kids? my years in I was ballin out of control. Granted $24k ain't shit but had no rent, no insurance, could eat 3 free meals a day if I wanted, I basically spent $24k a year on alcohol, clothing, and vinyl.

I kinda wish I'd have stayed in. I'd be 7 years from retirement. I'm doing pretty nice now don't get me wrong and I'm netting far much more cash.... just something gut wrenching about paying bills and realizing you don't really have as much expendable cash as you think.

we were discussing military wages at work yesterday... errone was saying they get fuck all, but I said surely the money is worth a lot more as you're not actually spending money whilst you'r in bhagdad or whatever. They claimed you have to pay for your keep? Surely not?

if you live on base as an e1-e3/4 you don't pay rent. If you live in base housing as an e3+ you don't pay rent. If you live off base at any time you get a BAH/BAS which is basically extra money to pay for your housing and food.

Anyone who plays a victim in the military is an asshole I'm sorry. Yeah they ask a lot but you get training, schooling, health/dental, housing, food, and a stupid amount of time off (like multiple weeks a year). Oh yeah and if you deploy, hazard pay and tax free to boot.

The problem is military folk like to fuck and have tons of fucking kids and fuck their situation up

It's a dope gig. Especially if you don't wanna grow up and go to college right away.

Except for the part where you might have to, you know, kill people and/or be killed

There was a similar thread last year. Judging from the responses (ie the only people who didn't say how much they were earning), it seemed like only 4-6 regular posters earned > £30k/year.

My cousin is in the navy and pretty much drinks a 40 oz of vodka every night that hes at home. And then there is going out.

bout how u spend ur money not how much u got. u can be on 100k and still spend it like a wasteman

Self employed so im not on a salary, but last year i earned £25k and this year ill be close to £30k
