Basslines basslines basslines, dubsteps definitly all about the b-lines but whos got the drums? Which song has your favorite drum sounds or patterns ? is there an artist whos got a particular sound going your feeling as far as the drums are concerned ?

Boxcutter did some really unique and
crazy shit on Brood.

Coming form a dnb background i really apreciate the way soem artists utilize the availble space with the lower bpms to use reverb and or delay fx on drums !

thoughts ?

really impressed with scuba as far as drums are concerned. every time i listen to those tracks i hear something new.

and with regards to drums, i haven't heard much dubstep with drums i like (i haven't heard that much though)

Yeah, Scuba's drums are massive.

Root and Goat Stare both give me chills from the drums alone.

Toasty boy has the runnin' thing goin on, never ceases to get people jumping around.

Skream has some really amazing drums too, I'm not sure what it is, it's almost laid-back or something, even when the tunes really aren't.

It is such a nice change to hear drums that aren't just absolutely pounding all the time, it's one of the first things that drew me to dubstep (well that and the bass. And the weird sounds. Wait, that's all there is

how can you guys not recognize the drums vex'd makes. They are bangin!

But I still like the hard and heavy drums if your liking the more laid back style i can understand that people wouldnt like them as much.

benga, the way some stuff just sits there in the background or is panned hard left or right...then you suddenly notice the shuffling in the hihats or some other stuff like that...real intricate!

EL-B, just for pure slick drum programming, no one does beats like El-B. Horsepower and Burial are up there with some heavy drum programming and of course DMZ and Loefah...

Mala! Ridiculous rhythms. I guess im not strictly talking just drums, but the whole rhythmic shebang, as a lot of the time its the way the drums interact with the other elements of his tracks that makes them stand out for me

i think in general people under estimate the detail of the drums that go into dubstep tracks.

one track that has ridiculous drum programming or it could be live playing is in Conference - Digital Mystikz. tribal skankin
