Getting stuck the drop on every track I make...

Hi guys,

Not a regular poster, but a regular lurker. Anyway, as the thread title says, I always seem to get stuck on the drop. Everything up to that point is ok, but then I just get stuck, start a new track, and essentially end up at the point. I have over 50 tracks that are stuck at the drop :u: Any help appreciated!

Latest one:

I'm only listening on my laptop, but that sounds pretty good to me. Not really the style I'm into, but still pretty dope. I used to have trouble building intensity in tracks because I always started with intros. Once I started writing the meat of the track first, then building the intros from those bits, this problem pretty much disappeared. Try writing your basslines first, then put drums and synths etc. behind that and then all you have to do is make an intro using the pallet of sounds you already have. Also maybe try using another "bass" sound or two in your drop. I use the " " because they're more midrange than bass.

Hey mate. Thanks for the quick feedback. I'm definitely open to the idea of starting with the drop and then stripping elements back for the intros and such, however I'd HATE to loose all the other partly finished tracks. I'll give it a go with "different" basses.

Cheers,
George

Hey GeorgeZ, offtopic but are you the GeorgeZ from the seamless lives?
Tune is absolutely mental by the way, better than anything I've done recently so I can't give any advice.

Ha, wondered if someone might make the connection. I am indeed the GeorgeZ from FL forums, KVR, Enzed and the Seamless streams :) Also, thanks for the kind words on the track, it's well far away from being finished. Even the intro stuff is just "structure based" at this time. No proper sound design has been done yet there.

Haha, nice! We've talked before I believe. (orchestraz)

Well, especially the drop sounded really great. How did you make the main bass sound? Roughly?

Right, yup, remember ;) That was just Harmor, of course. Could do a tut video if you like.
The lower end of the bass is the standard seamless type (2x saw via unison + Harmonic unison pitch shaping + dist). The mid bass is also Harmour, but I image resynthed a bass sample, with forced scale so it can be pitched + speed to zero, then manual (automation) time movement, creating the oscillation noise.

I should do more harmor stuff.
I think yeah a video would help alot of people but thanks anyway for explaining.
