Mavericks OS audio issues

Anyone else experienced any audio problems with mavericks on a mbp?
I run ableton through my duet 2 interface...and since switching to mavericks 10.9.2, after 5 minutes or so my audio starts to distort and crackle until finally it just stops working entirely.
Read up on the forums that mavericks effectively broke audio entirely, as well as flash videos for tons of users. I had a label release coming up soon and this whole ordeal has made my mid 2010 macbook unusable for audio production...
Even worse, after contacting support, they informed me that I could NOT downgrade back to snow leopard and my only option was to reinstall the OS. So i'm stuck with a broken macbook that can get about 5 tracks out of ableton live before it starts to crackle and distort until the audio just goes off and has to be reset entirely.
I have never imagined apple would push out a broken OS then not offer any support or even a way to downgrade back to their working OS...mac has lost all my respect...cant believe i paid those b*stards over $2500 dollars for issues like this.

Also, if anyone has figured out a way around these audio drop outs...please share!!!
Wish I could make music again without audio dropouts ruining my workflow. Its not the duet either, ive tried other usb interfaces with the same problem. =/

2013 MBP.
I don't know if this is a feasible solution for you but $199 gets you Logic X. I switched from Pro Tools years ago and I LOVE Logic! It's hard to imagine any other DAW being able to speed up my workflow any faster.

I have an older version of logic and use it a lot with rewire. Unfortunately I doubt thats gonna solve the issue as there are many reports of having the same issue with logic. After weeks of research on this issue, I have found that the only solution is a workaround that involves bypassing the macs internal HD and booting from an external drive, effectively turning your mac into a tortoise at the expense of no audio dropouts, and some even report that this solution isnt working.
10.9.3 is out for dev's...but not available anywhere else. Apparently its focus is "audio and video" problems...i can only hope to god that they sorted this major issue out!!

Do you know if people/Apple have found what's actually causing the issue?

Quite a few people I know switched to Mavericks already and I haven't heard about this problem.
I'm never that bothered with updates. Half the time it doesn't do shit

Isn't there a beta version of Ableton that fixes this?

That was my problem...hadn't heard anything about all the problems and bugs mavericks could introduce...and being that the upgrade was free I went right along with it. Now copy/paste doesn't work, 2 finger swipe to scroll doesn't work, flash videos lag, audio is crackling, and tons of other issues still come up.
I was going to just downgrade back to snow leopard...until Apple support explained that I cannot downgrade because the mavericks install overwrites everything else.

Have you rendered the full track, taken it to another device/computer and see if its actually physically effecting the audio? Or is it just its playback thats getting distorted. I actually had the same thing, sounds like its being bircrushed and running thru a guitar amp sim at the same time! But only happened with youtube videos, everything else was ok, and ironically not happened since I updated to 10.9.2. I'm also on a hackintosh, so might have been an issue there and not with osx
