In my own opinion, I think sylenth1 is great in it's own way, it can create some funky vibes.
I find nexus really good for big EDM sounds, it also covers a wide variety of types of sounds (unlike sylenth) which is why I use it more.
To generalise it.
Sylenth1 - Flume
Nexus - Avicci
The Job determines which one I will use

				Just keep in mind Arcane, it's not really a synth, it's a rompler with a few controls that reach into the sample itself, but it's sample based and doesn't take any homegrown samples. For this reason I don't own a copy, but my school and work had it. The samples are nice, but again, more tweak-ability would be nice.
Note that I haven't tried Nexus 2.
