Use your student discounts!
I thought I'd make a thread sharing my experiences with this, as plugins can be very expensive and I've never seen this topic discussed. If your a student in college (possibly grade school applies), you can get some huge discounts on plugins if you just look for them. I was able to get the OhmForce suite of plugins for just over 100$, all I had to do was supply a student ID or other confirmation that I was enrolled. This also worked for camel audio (alchemy is the best synth ever) and sugar bytes! I have nearly 50% off on most of these companies just by being enrolled. This isn't just for music students, any student is eligible.
I should also note that these are full versions of the plugins, not educational versions. If you have a family enrolled in a college I imagine you could use their credentials to do it as well, just call in a favor.
So along with OhmForce, sugar bytes, and camel audio, what companies have you encountered that offer discounts like these? I'd like to know who I should look into Investing in plugins from before I graduate.

Pretty much any major plugin company does.
UAD, Waves, Fab Filter, Camel, D16, Rob Papen, Sonnox.
When I have some regular income again, I think I'll go for a Fab Filter bundle.

Ages ago I got Fruity Producer Edition for like 50 bucks. There are teacher discounts as well. I have looked into it again recently and a lot of companies have locked it down so you have to be a student or teacher in some kind of music program. But maybe I should look again.

Ableton offers some compensation if you're a student. Looks like up to 40% off at first glance. https://www.ableton.com/en/shop/education/
7 year old BROstep/Trapstep/Chillstep producer from India. Young. Talented. 7 Years Old. Super skilled for age. Signed to NOW22. Biography written in 3rd person on soundcloud OBVI. The next Skrillex. Wait I don't even like him anymore LOL. Super talented. Only 6 years old.

I got a good discount with ableton and cycling 74 (for Max/msp) while I was a student. Really recommend doing it. Meant I could afford stable decent new software despite being at uni instead of working and not using shitty cracks that crash all the time like some dick.

Email their customer support. They will ask for some identification that you are a student. One asked for a transcript, which all I had to do was show some confirmation that I was currently enrolled through my schools website. A screenshot of that worked. For most of them all I had to do was send them a photo of my student ID and most schools should have these. They then sent me a coupon to use in the store.elyhess wrote:are these deals you find on the internet? or should i be talking to people at my school about these discounts? i never even thought of that!

They are in our student store, but it might be some exclusive deal I'm not sure.
