as a surfer
I can't believe some of the snowboarder's taking 100' vertical drops
sure, they don't have 10 tons of water following them down
but there's rocks & trees to dodge.

The one thing that maybe makes big surf kinda crazy
is when you get your skin torn off on coral
or watch boulders moving around down there

even so, launching off a fucking huge cliff without a parachute or hang-glider
is probably not gunna happen to me.

Plus I don't like cold that much.

I am completely indifferent.

i seen some videos of those surfers that surf giant waves & some of them just talk casual about ppl they know that died doing it

my critic. thinking teacher loved talking about his past surfing endeavours. He Really did love Big waves, he was telling me about how getting caught under them could potentially drown you. called it the abyss or something

tbh being spun & bounced off the bottom is similar to bass bin annihilation
but when yu grow up with it, with running out of breath & drowning,
mountain insanity is more impressive

Well, I look at it like if I had to, which one would I do? I'd take a dip at Mavericks rather than jump off a 100 foot 90degree cliff face. For sure, no question.

Extreme surfing for sure. I've done plenty of boarding in the rockies and its prety save provided you're not there for an avalanche

I used to do snowboarding, even very steep hills aren't all that. Even moderately big jumps are quite unproblematic if you're going steady. Surfing on the other hand looks mad how the fuck do you even stay on the board when surfing through those wave tunnels etc.

altho they are great fun cos they are so easy compared to skateboards or bmx

some the things the pros (lol) do are pretty impressive tbh

I've done my fair share of ridiculous snowboarding and will happily cliff drop and weave through trees at decent pace, but some of the shots of surfing I've seen make me weak at the knees. The ocean's no bitch and it WILL fuck you up eventually if you take the piss.

As a skatekid of the 80s and 90s I've got a natural aversion to micro-scooters, but I sat and watched some kid absolutely fucking owning my local skate park on one a few weeks ago and it sort of changed my mind. Skill is skill is skill.

Those stupid short skis can still fuck right off though.
