Depressing flat advert of the day

What does £170 per week get you in King’s Cross? Not very much, apparently. For the bargain price of £737 per month, this ‘modern studio apartment’ complete with ‘en-suite bathroom and kitchenette’ could be yours. Just think how easy it would be to cook – you wouldn’t even need to get out of your (single) bed.

A well-maintained single semi-studio just seconds from Chiswick Park Tube Station. The property comprises a nice double bed, cute open plan kitchenette, its very own shower room, large fitted wardrobes, chest of drawers and compact workspace. The WC is to be shared.

In a oil "boom-town" called Fort McMurray in Northern Canada, people touch 900-1200$ CAD/month for a shed, depending on the quality of the insulation and how new it is and how close it is the the city's only strip club/bars.
The City has its own shanty town in the hills to the west where forest dwellers (Electricians, Welders, Carpenters etc..) who often make upwards of 90-100k per anum congregate and live there in shifts watching each others belongings.
You can see them on the side of the highway en masse in the mornings waiting to get picked up by company trucks.

I met this black dude in Alaska, his accent sounded like the accent that black dudes affect when they are imitating white boys. I was like, are you for real dawg, he was like, what ever do you mean. But he meant it.

¥70,000 a month for the cheapest anywhere near the central loop line with no washing machine. Japanese estate agents charge massive downpayments for random shit ('respect money', 'key money') and then on top of that you need a Japanese national to be a guarantor or either be refused or forced to pay a company to cover you. Then, you got to sign a contract with cancellation fees.
Cheapest apartment would cost you at least ¥200,000 just for the first month and the keys.
Most foreigners live in gaijin houses, a good deal is ¥75,000 for a decent room in a share house with utilities and internet included. Drives some people to go so negative though, living with hyper-dickheads and no privacy. Those places attract tourist-teachers who got rejected from their own country and don't give a shit about other people... had enough bad experiences myself to never want to live in Tokyo again

Kind of makes you think that genetics don't affect on the way you speak.

If you're a shitty ALT like most of the jobs for foreigners, that's 33% of your salary before tax etc every foreigner I knew had two jobs. A guy I lived with had five and even my trainer owned his own company on the side...
My advice is don't teach English.

I think it has nothing to do with it, language is entirely linked to your upbringing and surrounding environment, unless you have some genetic deficiency that causes speech impediment or a learning disability.

I did union work north of Fort Mac for Shell Canada and Opti/Nexen on a couple pilot plants, first year industrial electrician on a 14 day paycheck (where you work 14 days straight through, usual shift is 21 on 7 off) you take home about $3200 CAD with no expenses since they have work camps setup and you get a free room, access to 24/7 food and recreation (25 cooks on staff, you can eat Fish, Steak, Seafood, and everything else and its delicious food).
Recreation trailers are pretty tight, got poker rooms, computer rooms, arcade rooms, movie rooms, tv rooms (with PPV) gyms and wifi all over. It happened once that the plant I was on was close enough to town that I was camped in a hotel every night for a 3 month contract, when they park you in town they give you a company truck as well.
Do it for a year and buy a house or a condo back home. Forget your GF/wife tho, this shit is strictly for alcoholic divorcees and young bucks.

I was actually looking online at properties in Mexico yesterday ahead of my move later this year, £170 is about a months rent on a reasonable 2 bedroom house!
