Spaniards Call For Referendum On End of Monarchy After Recent Abdication
Catalan Independence Vote Must Go Forward, Says Leader

this trend again of larger, institutional/established orders breaking apart along historical fissures.
But I swear to god I'm not gonna learn Catalan in addition to Spanish. Fuck that. Other languages in line ahead of you.

I know it is cliche, but when I was in Catalonia, I just thought everyone sounded like a sissy. If you've been to the west coast of california, and more specifically San Francisco, you probably would be familiar with the root dialect.
But I feel you. Northern California, Oregon really talking about forming a new state. The energy level is going up, bonds are beginning to break down. We're about to go to political plasma.

Spam's new king is very tall isn't he...the taller the monarch, the less imperiousness needed to compensate for lack of stature?

like a Cascadia of sorts? That's actually gaining traction lol?

I think there's a lot of people who privately like the idea of Cascadia but won't say it out loud for fear of being perceived as unpatriotic or fringy. What is lacking is an attractive package; nobody's selling a sexy Gov't of the People 2.0, a cultural identity, or even much in common besides the vague geographical continuum that is the American Northwest. Also, most proposed maps put the southern border way too high.
Everyone knows we have the economic viability. It's just everything else that's still embryonic.

about the king i rate him sometimes, it really pisses me of the legal immunity and that and the figure of a king is completely anachronical today but people saying that the king doesn't work or is useless have no fucking clue, is the guy that have helped more spain economically since the beginning of the democracy, an old high charge from spain told me that every big business in spain that was being planned to be done with an international company everyone first called the king and that he was crucial in the negotiations. also he avoided an military insurgence that would had setter himself as the supreme head charge of spain. Im think i prefer a republic but people get really annoying with that and waste so many effort with that like seeing a rap group that categorize himself as "republican rap" ffs they are thousand of bigger problems in life if a country like norway can function with a monarchy sure is not the worst problem of the country.
About catalonia, is all bullshit, normally regions that want to separate from the country are poorer with a different culture/ethnic, but spain is the only country that i have seen that the two regions that want to separate are the richer. Artur Mas is a pain in the ass, since he arrived to the charge he haven't done absolutely nothing, not a single law have been approved in 3 years just being noisy about getting independent when no one is oppressing them, they speak they language, practice their traditions they get a lot of hype for tourism, and they have their state organized as a independent state with much more advantages than the rest of spain, so? All the poor southerns went there to move their country forward and Franco invested a lot of money in the industrialization of Catalonia and now they want to leave and have all those things just for them? nah i guess Barça will have to play the league agains Llobregat and Girona . (is funny that the second team of catalonia is Betis)
btw my face palm was for the op articles not you hubb

its nothing new, hisorically theres always been small groups of people proposing various splintered off states, none of em ever gain serious traction
this is what the US would look like if they had all succeeded, 124 states!
