How to make LOUD tracks! (Zomboy, Skrillex, etc.)

Post by OfficialAceAura » Fri Jul 18, 2014 1:44 am

I figured how to make mixes really loud without making them sound like crap! (not too much anyway)
Soundcloud
1. Keep it simple, don't add too many different sounds
2. Add parallel saturation to all of your basses
3. Use ALL the limiters! Hard limit ALL of your basses
4. When mixing, try to get all tracks to the volume where the master meter stays at the same level over time.
5. When mastering, push your limiter SUPER hard. I'm talking like -2 to -1 RMS!
6. That's it! have fun winning the loudness war! :4:

If anyone else wants to add some helpful info on making loud mixes, feel free to add on! :D

But seriously the thing here is to make your track loud AND have nice snappy transients. But that's basically a paradox, because loudness = little dynamic range, transients = dynamic range.
[+] Spoiler
It can be achieved through saturation, which brings the audible level up without increasing your db level.

Not sure if trolling. Preview sounds horrible. Like mromgwtf said, the trick is balancing loudness vs. transients.

Eric Seall, under the name "Ace Aura", is an unsigned EDM producer/DJ. All of his life he has had a passionate love for music, receiving his first drumset at 8-years-old. He has been producing since November of 2012 with the release of his first song, "Rise of the Angels". Some of his most popular songs include "Bass Heavy" and "Definition of Dance". With influences that range from Skrillex to Zomboy, he creates all sorts of music, but mainly Dubstep.

Eric's music aims to capture the essence of life as a teenager and all of the crazy emotions that come with it. Anger, depression, joy, and everything in between. He hopes that his ability to evoke emotions through music will develop until it is eventually his signature. As Eric matures as a producer and a DJ, he hopes to be able to create music for all people to enjoy. He also has hopes of performing live DJ shows later in life.

This is only the beginning of what might become a big name in the EDM scene!
eric writes about himself in the third person because eric is retarded.
