Hey guys, im having a problem where i will create a super awesome intro/build up, and then my drop just sucks. Im really wanting some tips for making awesome drops. I use ableton and sometimes massive, although i have no idea how to work with massive and end up using loops instead. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

tip #1 learn how to use massive properly. sit down with the manual, deconstruct patches, build your own patches.

tip #2 read through the existing threads on drops and how to make them

Code: Select all

https://www.dubstepforum.com/forum/search.php?keywords=drop&terms=all&author=&fid[]=8&fid[]=63&sc=1&sf=titleonly&sr=topics&sk=t&sd=d&st=0&ch=300&t=0&submit=Search
that link in the code will give you a list of all the threads discussing drops.

Watch tutorials by searching the type of synthesis you're after. Simples.

Be a musical cock tease.

Build and build and build till it's really exciting, and it makes your heart start racing.

Then.

Stop the track there.

I hear this happens to a lot of men at a certain age.

I wouldn't worry about it.

Why not just make your build-up worse?

Write the main part of the track first and then concentrate on the buildup/midbreak/end. Gotta make the filling before wrapping it up in crust
