Now, I understand getting angry because of Norwegian involvment in the multilateral "peacekeeping forces" in the Middle East, but - given that it's a social welfare state that actually takes in a lot of immigrants from the region and doesn't flex overtly militaristic solutions to every little international quibble - WTF? That seems a little weird. Announcing it thus only adds to the paranoia too.

They have to announce it, otherwise it would be an even bigger media circus when people suddenly see the police patrolling 4x as much and carrying automatics in the street.
