"Distance" Bass

Post by paperhype » Wed Sep 03, 2014 12:51 pm

Hey guys.
I just found some very interesting stuff : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tpGz6YOVJQ
I really love how these highs come in. I think this is done with automation on a filter.
can anybody say me, how to do this melting, bursting sound?
thought of a simple saw wave but thats not working right.
any ideas?
thanks :P

This song uses what is called band passing. The filth used in this particular song is not only bandpassed through different frequencies but it is also panned.

For making this sound Id use a bandpass filter and sure you can use a saw id also add a tiny bit of mono chorus to the saw then Id find a filter than has a cutoff and a bandwidth knob and automate both of those.

If you use Native instruments Massive I can attempt to make a preset.

Here you go. It may not sound the same at all but it demonstrates what I meant by bandpassing.

Have fun bro!
