U2 give their album to every iTunes user

Post by wub » Thu Sep 11, 2014 5:35 pm

http://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-29132508
The first album in five years by veteran Irish rock band U2 has been offered for free to the 500 million users of Apple's iTunes service.

The surprise announcement was made at a California event where Apple CEO Tim Cook unveiled the firm's latest iPhone and a new smartwatch. The band also performed live at the event.

U2 lead singer Bono described the release of the 11-track album, Songs of Innocence, as "kind of mindblowing". "The most personal album we've written could be shared with half a billion people - by hitting send," Bono said. "If only songwriting was that easy."

u2 must think very highly of themselves for assuming that all itunes users want their new album
also wanting to give the album for free but only giving it to apple users creating some sort of precedent so people get itunes in hopes of getting more free shit
dickhead move on all levels - as expected from u2 and apple tbh

Why so? All they're doing is giving something away for free. If people don't like it, they can delete it.

Excellent point. If Radiohead or someone like Paul McCartney turned round and said "hey everyone, have a free LP on us!" the music press would bruise the back of their collective throats in the rush to scoff their cocks down.

Never owned an apple product in my life. Never bought into their hipster overpriced garbage products.

As for U2 well their just a bunch of tnucs. Their music is shit. Bono has the cheek to do charity adverts asking people to give money to charities. How about you give all your money to charity you tnuc, your a multi millionare!

Thats funny because I just bought an apple product because it offered better value compared to the windows alternative after years of being a windows user.

So your opinion of Apple is your perception of their products and users...nothing to do with them giving away an album?
rockonin wrote:How about you give all your money to charity you tnuc, your a multi millionare!
The same could be said about a lot more people with a far greater wealth who no work in raising awareness of global issues and charities.
