motivation essay/letter

Post by ultraspatial » Wed Sep 17, 2014 4:56 pm

gotta write one to apply for a masters but i have 0 experience with this

should i write like a list of reasons why i want to pursue the program and why i think it would be beneficial for me? or something else entirely?

idk sounds like a load of wank to me. all the other masters at my uni base their admission interviews on a research project. tbh i find that way easier and a bit more fair - for the lack of a better word - than having to suck up in an interview or w/e

I'd write why I want to be selected and why I should be selected. if its anything like the personal essay i had to write for uni, they're essentially giving you space to brag and say why they should select you

Your chances would go up if you capitalized the appropriate words. Ehbs included.

Don't write about why it would be better for you, write why it would be better overall - what you could bring to the program, what benefit you acquiring your masters could have on your community, your country.

From your post you sound self-obsessed and lethargic, not the traits they want to see in applicants. Buck up, man.

I don't know what you're studying and I'm not sure if it's the same with all masters but I've looked into maths/physics/philosophy before and a lot of places have you teach undergraduates while studying. With that in mind, and the fact that in the fields I mentioned a lot of people are looking to go on and do doctoral work, I'd suggest trying to convey why you would be a valuable addition to the department. Talking about your specific area(s) of interest and department members who've been active in them could be helpful. Detailing your personal research interests may be good too.

If you're at uni now look into the career services and ask them. Also talk to your subject's professors about it.

That's just it though, I argue about matters of truth. He's quite widely a dick and also pretty creepy imo.

You had nowaysj on the foe list? Don't include that in the letter.

Probably some personal beef.
