i normally produce on reason. and i get my sounds soundin exactly how i like them usin the tape sitortion mode .. nice and compressed with a lil bitt of drive..... but i want to move onto vst's... heres the problem i have.. when im trying to use compressers in fl studio on massive vst.... like lets say a rheece or somewtinhg with chorus on....... i can see the channels left and right phazing in volume loads.. so im trying to compress so the levels both stay in the same place basicly.. like a limiter... i can do thjis easy and get the results i love in reason... but can anyone explain why i can hear things gettin compressed but the mixer on fl studio is showin theres still loadsa bumps.. i wanna just put a cieling on things... the only thing thats doing it is camelphat near enough. i need help swiching to vst's// thanks in advance......on a phone so spelling is fuckd.

You need to push the threshold & the gain more, using closer to a brick wall.

That is probably what you did in reason essentially, using the saturation which brought up the noise floor level.

A reece sound will bob up and down in velocity due to it being achieved through phasing. You'll notice this more when playing at lower frequencies.

Alternatively - you can duplicate the sound, make it mono and then pan 45* on both channels, copy them to a bus and compress / widen from there.

So you want to limit the left and right channels individually?

no i just wanna squash the signal so it sits in one place instead of if bobbing up and down.... i notice the vst's i use in reason are pretty good when ever i make wobbles or bongs they have done a good job at making the signal stay in one place and i always saturate stuff so its completely level.. even all my drums go into one group that i saturate for fatness. and when i moved to vst's the levels are all over the place and sound really annoyingly jumpy expecially massive vst... its sounds so annoyin and jumpy in volume and thats knot just when i phaze stuff its with all sounds ..that i just want to compress it and saturate it but dont know what vst's to use.... theres another thing in reason called the demolisher or something. and its got a squeeze knob wich compressers stuff real nice and a distortion knob. wich i can hear is overdrivin signals.. the only thing that has come close to what i can easily do in reason is sausage phattener.. but it doesnt squash it enough without putting harsh sounding distortion on it.. if i ram it up in sausage phattener it just sounds to distorted...... i might sound like i dont know what im tlakin about but check my tunes. im obviously not a noob at producin... www.soundcloud.com/djnaya

The FL's mixer read out has a lot better resolution than Reason's. It shows jumps in sound more dynamically.

The answer to your question is the same as I said above though.

You'll need to push the floor level up more. Don't let it dip down. Maybe use Maximus's compressor rather than FLcompressor? It has a great visual read out too. https://www.image-line.com/support/FLHe ... ompression
