Hello! I need some guidance.

Hello. I am Draconis. I pretty much taught myself how to produce music. But as a 14 year old I am afraid that there is a lot I need to learn, so I registered to this forum for tips and such. In a few days I will be getting a laptop, and a demo of cubase until I raise the money to buy it. I also plan on getting FM8 and MASSIVE. But for now I need your opinion on which plugins (if any) and DAWs I need first. Happy holidays!

You can be my minion, and do whatever I say
Make me a breakcore album using only Renoise.
Go minion, and report back on the 14th on jan, and I will de-brief you, and send you on your next mission.

OK. I'll just create an account right now on my phone. And when I get renoise and my laptop I'll probably have a few minor questions. Which is obvious. And I'm texting words just for the heck of it. . . . . . . . hvhchcycuftcyfgcychvhvggv

Omg. Renoise is only 65$? It looks pretty dang sick too. Thanks! I'm downloading the demo onto my phone so I can extract it to my laptop when I get it. What are the limitations in demo? I'll buy it as soon as I get the money.

You can't render tracks (though you can capture them with 3rd party software (audacity (it's free))).
Calm down abit, try lots of different DAW's before you buy one.

^^^^^^^Best budget option IMO
Also, I wouldn't worry about plugins right now. I would just learn the stock plugins for whatever DAW you get and learn how they work and how to make those sound good before you get anything fancy.

Unless you get Reaper of course, then you'll want to pick up some freebies like Synth1 and possibly some FX. I'm not sure what all it comes with these days. The EQ was quite good from what I remember.

Well. Everything is good. I'm using lmms until I can work fl studio when I buy it (trying the demo, I'm in love). And there is a huge glitch with fm8 and massive where it still says its in demo mode but after 30 minutes it still works, and I can export my songs fine. Life is awesome.

P.S. I do not understand renoise at all. :/

Yeah, well Renoise is a tracker as opposed to a more traditional DAW. If you like to make music by programming numbers in, then that is for you. I personally like to make music in real time by playing it in live. I haven't tried to use a tracker in years so I'm sure Renoise has come a long way.

Oh. Well I have never used a daw like that. Before I was actually serious about producing I have been using an app on my phone named caustic. But now I just now learning how to use fl studio 11. So really I am extremely inexperienced in production. But what websites/online classes do you prefer I go to when I can?

I have Caustic on my phone. It is a fun app. I would just Youtube it for some lessons, and just keep playing around with your daw. It takes time, just like learning to play the trumpet. Don't let your computer get run over by a car.

I'm still working on it, and I am using lmms and fl studio. The plugins I am using are ambiance, massive, fm8, DSK brass, and I got an effect pack from some site but I got to check who it was. (Terrible memory)
