Hie lads,

Only after hearing the Breezeblock Dubwars show over the weekend and really wanna buy some vinyl.

So 2 questions I suppose

1) What 5 records should I buy for an introduction to the sound in general

and

2) Where should I spend the cash on the net to give it to those in the scene?

Thanks lads, much appreciated.

Great cycling music by the way :)

Hope i put this into the right forum...

Personally, I'd say

Skream - Skreamism Vol I
Emalkay - Gut Feeling
DMZ - Haunted
Elemental - Deep Under
Boxcutter - Brood

and Midnight Request Line by default

I've just started buying and these were some of the first I grabbed

I bought from Blackmarket's and www.redeyerecords.co.uk. I'm guessing the artists get their % either way.

Skreamizm
Kode 9 - Kingstown
DMZ - Haunted/Anti War Dub
Loefah - Root/Goat Stare

For the fifth, can't decide between these two -

D1 - Identify/Degrees
Loefah and Skream - 28 Grams/Fearless

Awesome tracks but they certainly aren't examples of dubstep in its purest form. Purest dubstep. Heh :D

any good suggestions for two n00bs then? and i care little about purity, just good music.

lately burial has really been twisting my noggin too...i come from the harder end of techno, but damn this deep dubbiness makes me happy too...

I'm all about Burial right now :D Albums gonna be sick.

The ones I listed are my favourite releases so far :) Basically add all the DMZ/Hyperdub/Tempa releases to that list and you're away.

If you come from the harder end of things, try Distance and Vex'd..

Recommending to someone new, I would recommend going to bleep.com first and having a good peruse...there are a lot of tunes which might be difficult to pick up on vinyl now but I reckon are the best starting points (then you can buy as much vinyl as you can get your hands on!)...

DMZ03 - Mala - Da Wrath VIP / Loefah - Twisup (Youngsta & Task Remix)
...actually, all of the DMZ releases...all of them are seminal

Ital01 - Skream - Angry / Traitor

HYP03 - Kode9 - Kingstown

Planet Mu133 - Pinch - Qawwali

HDB001 - Burial - South London Boroughs EP

theyre the 5 id say to start on, mainly I suppose because theyre 5 of my all time favourite tunes!

Also download this mix: http://dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=2888 to see where it grew from
