yes... heard about this today.
another friend of mine was gun down last year... he was also S.African.
Crime there is no joke and car hijacking happens almost everyday. i'm surprised he was shot though, because I'm sure they knew who he was if they saw him. chances are they didn't.
I hope the new gov't really tries to 'police' their highways.
while there in '02, I remember freaking out cause the S.African with me in the car said not to slow down on the highway at intersection (it's the law their at night) Imagine bolting at around 150km/hr at an intersection. All i remember doing is looking for any sign of car lights that may light up the road as I approached.

big artist, started in the apartheid era and continued making intelligent music for the right reasons to the end.
i think the song prisoner is his best and a great song by anyones standards
