Every city in the world has their share of poser DJ's, the ones that post up with a 20k FB page yet no one knows them around you and you can't find a flyer with their name on it in the last 5 years. You know, the ones that show up to product demo's to look like they are repping huge companies.
Theres too many to count but, for now I'd like you to meet Dj Sara Simms, this chick, tries to be a model/super-hero Dj. Let me explain, her marketing schtick is that she has a super hero drawn up in the image of her "DJ Character" and she publishes a comic book about her fem superhero DJ character's stories and then cosplays herself at product demos, conventions, store openings and "gigs" across the metropolitan area of Toronto.
Complete with paid Asian back-up dancers for her "gigs"
Sara Simms captivates the world as an innovative DJ, turntablist and electronic music producer. She's a multi-instrumentalist who is known for her love of music technology.
Sara's unique blend of electronica has enchanted audiences around the world; she has recently toured through North America, Japan, and Europe. In “The Future Prophecy”, her graphic novel and concept album series she stars as the superheroine DJ who wields the power of the future of music.
Sara's career highlights include: opening for the Friendly Fires in Cannes, France, appearing on DJ QBert's 'Skratch University', a US tour with Melleefresh (Play Records), judging the Canadian DMC Championships, and playing at AIR (Tokyo). She has performed alongside DMC World Champion DJ QBert, DJ Rafik, DJ Shortee, Japan Redbull Thre3Style Champion DJ Iku, Keisha Chante, Lights and Shad.
Sara's light is shining, and her presence ensures the future of music will be bright.

i think this was from before the big "edm" craze, which is the reason for her rebranding into whatever bait trend music she's into now. i'm slinging some mud around on fb over this at the same time and my boy jsut told she used to work as a receptionist at Lacquer Channel mastering before getting into the dj stardom thing. Apparently she's super nice irl.. I dunno still, just not my vibe tbf.

thats a shame she changed style so drastically
i can understand and forgive those who move from dubstep to something else bass orientated like techno or 120+10
but to go from hip hop to edm

its the lack of conviction that really bothers me with bandwagon jumping to such an extreme
like if you really believed in what you were into from how she spoke about growing up with the graf and bboy scenes
then why switch
unless the alure of free gear and outfits that wouldnt go amiss in a gay pride parade have greatly pull then i can comprehend

She prob just changed because at that time the HH dj thing was well saturated and it was (still is) extremely hard to be the best or even relevant/respected. Jump to a power vacuum scene for free points and speakers imo. She doesnt even have a fucking record out and shes getting pushed by genelec. Not gona lie, that hits me right in the feels.

meanwhile, according to local rag, Oz djs are dominating Las Vegas clubs
now, ain't that some achievement?
living on the proceeds of gambling by playing-out crap.
