Owned by your own poll.
Null vote, I use soft but I want hard.

listening to some samples i made on friends virusc. Hardware is alot easier to work with. Esp when no extra processing is needed to make it sound large

got soft synths
wanted a hard one - bought a micro korg
fat sounds and easy to operate!
BUT too fiddly to integrate into the system
so.. software for me
(only until i get get a proper mixing desk and integrate the hardware element nicely)

just got a used, rack-mount line mixer for $75 off ebay. mpc, dj setup, microkorg, and jv1080 all go into there and get mixed down to stereo... no more plugging/unplugging. also got space for 4 more sources-- def. a good buy.
there's some patch editors for the microkorg you can use on your computer; you have to upload/download via midi data dump, which is kinda ugly, but it works:

now, does anyone have an sh201 they want to 'loan' for a long time?
the great thing about hardware is its tweakability; much more physical-- and who are we kidding, FUN-- to twist and slide shit in real time. thank god for good midi controllers as well...
