Its just the man that runs a soundsystem. Frequently used in clashes between soundsystems. One DJ will call out the other soundsystem.
Also used to refer to a fan who follows a certain soundsystem. Like choosing your football team, in soundclash everyone has their favourite sound.

Soundguy is what you would call a soundsystem owner. Soundboy is a way of saying your not big enough to be a soundguy which is why you will always hear lyrics saying things like "my sound ago kill a soundboy tonight." Thats what I have always been led to believe anyway

King Tubby had a track called 'Soundboy Massacre'. Skull Disco fans might see the link there.

SOUNDBWOY
Usually a derogatory way to refer to the selecter or other personality in another sound system. This term is most often employed in clashes, on dub plates built for clashes, and so on. Sometimes it is not used in such a negative manner, but most of the time one refers to the someone in the crew as a soundman, not a boy.

Can someone clear this up?
I always thought a soundboy was a someone who ran the sound. The engineer. Also sometimes used to describe someone totally into sound. Of course you can call out a soundboy from a rival system but it's not necessarily a derogatory term.
No? Yes?
All soundboys to thread.

To see what soundbwoy means, you got to check this out:
www.myspace.com/soundbwoyovernite
I'd say it's definitely an insult, as other people mention, soundbwoy's are always getting *string up! *killed * massacre* etc.
You never hear "Big up soundbwoy!".
and for a term that is used so much in dub, reggae and dubstep, how come no one ever used it as a band name.
DJ SoundBwoy would probly be the same as calling yourself "DJ Wank"
or DJ Waste (hmmmm)

Yeah maybe.
There's loads of labels and producers calling themselves soundboy this and soundboy that - do a search.
Soundbwoy like you say sounds more like a diss.
And before anyone pipes up saying this thread is waste - it's more interesting than a lot of the poop that gets it's own thread here these days.
