I cant believe the news today
Oh, I cant close my eyes and make it go away
How long...
How long must we sing this song?
How long? how long...

And its true we are immune
When fact is fiction and tv reality
And today the millions cry
We eat and drink while tomorrow they die

one of the realest songs ive heard

It's the tune Oh Marie, 2nd in the medley. Is without doubt one of the cheeriest songs I ever heard. If the voice sounds familiar it's because he did the voice of King Louis in the Jungle Book.

Check out the woman's expression at about 2.40 - priceless.

ciccone youth "macbeth"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_d0iW75Ml1E

ciccone youth were some side project of sonic youth in the 80ies where they explored their obsession with madonna, hence the name ciccone youth.

macbeth is one of my alltime favourite tunes and i remember countless times of listening to this track on a highway late at night. deep in it...

Yeah, I do love that stuff. Prima always sings like he's having the time of his life which always swings it for me (no pun intended).

It's not quite jazz and not quite rock'n'roll, the only other person I can think of who did this style was the godlike Louis Jordan. Wish I had more of this, always puts a smile on my face. :D

Yes, me too. I love Prima. There are other great performers/ musicians from that middle ground between swing/ rock-n-roll/ country in american music as well. On the country side were people like Chet Atkins :) who i am obsessed with at the moment.

I am glad you liked it. Yes! doesn't that guitar have such a wonderful tone?
Another thing is that song is only 2:12- yet it is packed with goodness.

I think a thread on this stuff is a great idea.

I've got an LP with Trini Lopez doing that tune. From the back cover "Trini Lopez and London go together like mini-skirts and birds"

:D
