I'm going to buy Spectrasonics ATMOSPHERE......

Post by future producer » Mon Nov 19, 2007 12:48 am

Does anyone use it? I am listening to the demo samples and it's sounds amazing, my type of stuff.

I am running 1.6ghz processor with 1GB, I think that will be ok.

I'm gonna get it from DV247, it's £177 on there, whereas Time & Space do it for like 240 or something!

Got some extra cash some I'm gonna get some bad sample CDs, although before I do, what are the choir and string patches like? I was gonna by Diva By Design

Also
Heart Of Asia

And some Orchestral strings one, although with a 3GB core library I'm not sure I'll need to.

Atmosphere is an awesome synth, well worth the price.

I would have got it ages ago, but I don't like the idea of massive sound libraries eating up valuable dwarf porn space on my hard drive.

yeah, atmosphere is well worth it in my opinion. you can do lots of internal mixing and layering of patches to keep things interesting for years. it's definitely an aptly named sample-synth... it's extremely good at creating atmospheres and moods. it even has a somewhat small section of bass and leads that can be fairly useful... (and which will probably get you wanting Trilogy...which is also badass and worthwhile).

as someone above posted, it is kind of annoying having a huge sample library on your drive... but, the flip side to that is that it doesn't seem to tax your cpu as much as an actual synthesizer does.

the other thing that kind of sucks about Atmosphere (and they might have changed this by now) is the LFO doesn't come with a synch option. I bought it a long time ago tho... hopefully they fixed that

I'm not fussed about the core library, I've got about 320GB disk. I'm deff gonna get it though. puzl, is there any need for extra choir samples?

I've alos heard it will keep you going for quite sometime!

As far as I can remember its only a few cd's and top quality. However its only just got universal binary support which is supposed to be shit so depending on if you need that I would wait. Also its rumoured that spectrasonics are going to be announcing new products and updates to previous software at winter namm so again you may want to wait.

ka-ching. spectrasonics is a good company though, it WILL get sorted and atmosphere, trilogy, and stylus are really great tools.

I knew this vst was popular but I had no idea that it has been used to score some of the major Hollywood movies such as Michael Clayton, The Kingdom, Bourne Ultimatum, Déjàvu and Blood Diamond. It's also been used on Lost (opening theme), CSI and Heroes to name a few.

I'll give you a demo when it comes :D

one of the best plugins i've ever used, despite the massive sample library.
the only problem is some of the presets sound so nice you won't want to change them!!
