Going to a festival on your own

Post by test_recordings » Tue Mar 17, 2015 11:48 am

A bit hardcore maybe but obviously people go to nights on their own, but what about festivals? Saw a a good looking one at Kenting in Taiwan that's up to the last day I'm there (https://www.forumosa.com/taiwan/viewtop ... 6&t=143959) and I'm wondering whether it's worth a pop

I also reckon making friends at a festival should be pretty easy right? People are down for shit generally

Why not? If you wanna go, go. If you're just the least bit sociable I'm sure you could easily find some people to hang out with at a festival. If you're not then you probably don't mind being on your own anyway.

went to a festival with some friends but they all had shit taste in music so i was rolling solo all 3 days except for when i crashed back at the campsite for a few hours a night. still a perfect experience, if it's a decent festival then there should be enough friendly people about anyways. out to the married couple who smoked me out during goth trad

going solo probably has it's pros n cons but then again so does going with a massive crew. can become a pain with people wanting to see/do different things. always a pain when you're ready to go out and half your crew still isn't ready to leave camp too.
one of the best nights i've ever had was when i went lone wolf for a night at glasto. no-one wanted to see what i did so just cruised it and met some safe people and seen some sick djs.

like previously stated, if you enjoy your own company then why not.
not too dissimilar from whether or not you'd go travelling on your ones i guess, a lot of people do that.

Fair points. I think I'll just save the $$$ for more country-specific stuff though because I don't know if any of the music is good or not

I'd be more concerned about whether the locals actually know how
to festival or not. If it's not really part of the culture, there's a good chance it'll be
mostly obnoxious 18 year olds drinking too much.

Anyone can buy a festival ticket, but when it comes down to the actual festivalling..

I tend to just go and do my own thing anyway, doesn't matter if i'm away with a big group or just a few people, i'd do one on my own definitely
