this morning obstensibly advertising house-and the woman went on to list the various "sub genres" ; house/deep house/balearic/tropical-and I really was like what the fuck? House/deep house yeah I can guage what they are but tropical? Does anyone know of any examples? Like-do DJs actually play it?

tropical house is basically deep house with saxophone/trumpet/string instrument bits
Thomas Jack started it off as a pisstake genre, then other DJs/producers started latching onto it to appear more credible/niche.
Tropic isn't my taste but there are some good songs... It's like suburban easy listening shit that white girls would play on their way to Starbucks.
This one I can dig...

The term "trouse" should not be confused with trop house as "trouse" is used as the name of the genre that instead combines the feeling of trance and the beats of progressive house, utilizing electro synths
