[POLL] Is £30 for DMZ 10th birthday tickets taking the piss?

Simple question.
  • On the one hand, it'll be a near guaranteed top drawer lineup playing classic tunes all night
  • On the other, it's the sort of price associated with 'big room' style clubs, regardless of who is on the bill.
For your time;

Personally, I think it's a more than reasonable pricing for 10hrs of banging music. Above my golden ratio price-wise, but still not obscene given the relative costs of equivalent nights in other genres.

I think it's a little steep, but so many nights with "all-star" line ups are steep.

It's a bit of an annoyance because historically it hasn't been an expensive night but people are still going people obviously think it's worth it. It's a 10 hour night and it'll have a hench system, still only 3 quid an hour at that price which isn't exactly bad value imo.

It'll come down to the line up. If its good enough this discussion will be over when they announce it.

Ordinarily, my philosophy is;

C/H = R

C = cost of ticket
H = hours the night is running for

If R > 1.6, then it needs to be something really special to get me to consider it

Maybe R 1.6 if you do (C/2)/H

Idk but most covers here work out steeper than a dollar an hour (or 3 dollars every 2 hours lol)

True, but that's the choice of the attendee, not the promoter.

I'll be there start to finish :)

And yeah £3/hr is fine by me. I'll hold off the beer and it'll be the price of most other nights out.

cos i spent 20 on final release 2 years ago and who the fuck are they gonna bring out that wasn't on that line up to justify extra 10, inflations not been that raw

i don't judge nights by £/hr why would i be there 9till 7am to make up the extra haha

even more annoying being told i should be glad to pay any amount for king mala tbh spent nuff on buying those records they won't repress

idk but like, is it normal that in this scene there's such a contrast of moaning knobheads and relentless fan boys that will accept any decision an artist makes

i've definitely found myself in the moaning side since around midnight dropped and some other ltd stuff, which is all on me so bear that in mind reading post before

just seems like whenever something big goes down there's a lot of negativity

i can see where you're coming from tbh, the whole "be glad to pay any kind of money to go" kinda people do piss me off a lot.

Dubstep seems to breed that sort of mindset though, same as with the second hand vinyl market costs for DMZ plates.

A good line up doesn't warrant higher ticket prices imo.
Price rarely exceeds €20 here. Only for big warehouse nights or
festivals.

With prices like these you burn through 50 quid in a night quite easily. That's
festival budgetting.

Its only too much if they don't sell out.
If they do sell out then 30 is too little...

All I'm saying is it ain't charity.

plus i don't think they need a ultra massive line up with lot of overpaid "legends" for it to be memorable night. they could just do the same thing that they did other birthdays, have a nice time, play some nice tunes, book some interring dis that don't ask for a ton and don't exclude the fans that can't afford a 30 pounds ticket

the only way i think i would pay that money for a night like that was if they assured that the entrance was going to be more limited so there was space in the dance.
imagine paying 30 pounds and being in a night as packed as the 8 birthday :?
