SHOULD DUBSTEP BE KEPT TO SMALLER VENUES?

Post by dj thc » Sun Nov 25, 2007 6:48 am

AFTER THE WHOLE SHIT WITH FWD 7YER B/DAY I FELT THAT THE WHOLE ATMO WAS TOTALY DIFFERENT TO NORMAL NIGHTS LIKE DMZ OR FWD AND WAS NOT ON THE FUN LOVING VIBE THAT IT NORMALLY IS! I KNOW THIS WAS DUE TO CUING FOR HOURS SO EVERYONE WAS PISSED OFF

SO I WAS WONDERING WHO WAS THINKING THAT DUBSTEP SHOULD BE KEPT TO SMALLER INTIMANTE VENUES

DONT GET ME WRONG I THINK DMZ IS SERIOUS BUT I DONT THINK ANYTHING BIGGER CAPPACITY THAN THAT IS GOOD

I THINK DUBSTEP PARTYS SHOULD BE IN A SMALL VENUE SO IT MAKES IT A BIT MORE PERSONAL!!

WHO AGREES?

I AM SERIOUSLY WASTED RIGHT NOW AND PROBERLY TALKING A LOAD OF SHIT BUT FUCK IT!!!

most nights are better with smaller venues as it has a more intimate vibe, and less likely to have troublecausers (not usually a problem at dubsteo nights though) but at the end of the day most nights are put on to make people money so organisers are going to get as many people in as they can

Smaller venues will generally mean a larger percentage of people really into it, and not having to worry about where you stand in order to hear the sound properly. So they get my vote.

The vibe is always better at smaller venues.

i think the other night had the potential to be good but it did feel a little impersonal being in such a big place, i prefer a smaller venue where the sound and skankin is intense, and then you got a crew of heads just chillin you can chat with and that

i thought the warehouse party was a good night, apart from the whole outside bollocks and shutting early. a big party is good every so often. someone should start a secret sundaze style party (when it was actually secret and free, and minus all the horrible people who go to those)

I definitely like the smaller venue parties better. More intimate for me, and more room to breathe / dance. SHOULD it be kept to smaller venues though... its a good question but its irrelevant because that'll never happen. plus for me when you have a mediocre time at a bigger party then you have a great time at the smaller ones and appreciate them more.

all about the DOTS and Platform 1 for me. every time! gonna miss those nights when I go.

More often than not yeah.

Large events can be excellent (the Sub loaded a few in October being a prime example!) but i generally prefer small dances.

As a promoter i wouldn't really want to put on dubstep in a venue much over 500 people. Vibes get lost in bigger venues i reckon

All about the small venues for me just coz everyone seems to have it so much more. Although DMZ Leeds/Exodus is still the best Dubstep night Ive ever been to and probably always will be. Roll on next Weekend
