bringing technics 1200's to europe
so i moved to europe a few years ago and have been using these shitty decks that my girlfriend has.sadly i have a pair of sl1200 mk2's collecting dust back in Toronto.i am dying to get my turntables over here, but obviously, i didnt use the foresight to get 1210's. however, i did buy them brand new in 1994, so i had no idea id end up in europe. i'm wondering if anyone has a tip for dealing with the voltage problem. is a step down transformer enough? or is there something im missing? any help is welcome.
i guess if i cant get them here, i will have apair of 1200's, excellent condition i am the only owner of these, with flight cases, new cables for sale.
if you're in toronto and want to make an offer go ahead and pm me.

I just took the platter off my 1200s to double check and there is a switch to change between 110V and 240V so all you will need is a plug adapter. If you were going to use a transformer you would need a step-down transformer but considering there is a switch on the decks that would be a pretty ridiculous thing to do. Hope that helps
are they 1210's or 1200's? im sure my 1200's do not have a voltage switch...this was fixed in the 1210 version and the 1200 mk3...ive heard that the direct drive does not respond well to using a transformer... oh i believe that the power here is 220/240v 50/60 hz...the last thing id want to do is pay to get them over and then fuck em'up...
mine are 1200s mk2 and even the old version has the voltage switch. mine are about 16 years old so im very confident that yours will have the switch as well. Mains here is technically 230V 50Hz, whereas in the US and Canada its 110V 60Hz, but the switch under the platter will take care of the frequency difference as well as the voltage. Products are often manufactured like this so they can make them all the same regardless where in the world they are being sold.
